Honey Bee

Honey Magnolia Huntwell is a moderately fictional, thrice removed, relative of the McGeever family. She recently moved to Santa Barbara to act as a spokesperson, diplomat, and all-around pin-up girl for Heritage House.

We liked her so much we named our restaurant after her! With the help of our chef Nicole, and our fabulous staff, Miss Honey will be introducing us to some of her cherished recipes (watch for those daily Blue Plate Specials). She will also be sharing tidbits on her life and travels in our monthly Heritage House News.

Honey brings with her a magic suitcase full of favorite recipes, treasures from her world travels, beauty tips for the every day Diva, and most importantly – a book full of life lessons on how to remain young at heart.

Please see our sample menus below.

Bill’s Grill

In Heritage House’s early days, Bill set up a Weber kettle on the dining patio, and hosted informal cook-outs for family and friends. So many residents made special requests for barbecue as part of their regular meal program that Bill now hosts a special barbecue every month at a minimum for residents, their families and friends, (and whomever might just stop by). Nicole rounds out his menu with a selection of locally sourced vegetables, sides and usually a handmade dessert (fresh fruit cobblers like Bill’s mom made are a big favorite). Bill’s Grill schedule and menu is included in our monthly newsletter and follows our regularly scheduled 4:05 club. The menu is always different and samples some of the best chicken, meat, pork and fish Santa Barbara has to offer.

4:05 Cocktail hour

The 4:05 has evolved organically and is now our most popular weekly event. In sharing our stories, we remember our parents attending their own cocktail hours, dressed in swanky gear, sharing stories and tall tales with their friends. We enjoy continuing the tradition (although the dress is decidedly less swanky and more Santa Barbara). The 4:05 has become a place and setting of comfort to everyone here. Family and friends are not only welcome, but encouraged.

We serve complimentary cocktails, “virgin” cocktails, and appetizers. Generally we work on a theme or special request, so there is always a signature cocktail of the week that spurs memories, and generally more stories (and a few chuckles). When paired with Bill’s Grill immediately following (once a month at a minimum), family members can stop by on their way home, catch up with their residents and other friends, and tuck into some really fine barbecue. What’s not to like?

See you at the 4:05.
